Joseph Zada has revealed the unusual gift he received from The Hunger Games "superfans" while filming the prequel Sunrise on the Reaping.
The Australian actor, who plays the lead character in the upcoming prequel, has opened up about the devoted fans who gathered around the set while he was filming in a small town in Spain.
Speaking to his co-star Elle Fanning for Interview Magazine, Joseph recalled one particularly memorable gift he received from fans who had travelled to see the cast.
"We shot in a small town in Spain, only about 100 people," he said of the film. "By the time we got there it was up to 250, because we brought 100 crew people and 50 fans."
The We Were Liars star noted that many fans had travelled from around the world specifically to catch a glimpse of the cast.
"If you walked outside, you were immediately signing books and photos for superfans who made it all the way to this random place in Spain," he explained.
Joseph then revealed that three fans had travelled all the way from the U.S. to give him a particularly unusual present.
"I remember three people who came all the way from America to give me the pyjama pants Woody (Harrelson) wore to the premiere, like an exact copy," the 21-year-old recalled.
"It was crazy. I actually wear them to bed a lot," he continued. "I washed them once, just in case. (Laughs) Or maybe twice, but yeah, I low-key wear those quite a bit."
In the upcoming prequel, Joseph plays a young Haymitch Abernathy, the character originally portrayed by Harrelson in the original four-film franchise. Meanwhile, Elle portrays a young Effie Trinket, taking over from original actress Elizabeth Banks.
The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, which centres on Haymitch's story 24 years before the original The Hunger Games, will be released in cinemas on 20 November.
