Watch: Jonathan Davis performs ‘Freak on a Leash’ with a full orchestra

Jonathan Davis surprised fans by joining Japanese rock icon Yoshiki on stage at Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles for a one-off orchestral performance of Korn's Freak On A Leash.

Now, if Yoshiki isn't a name you know, he's basically Japan's biggest rock star. As the drummer, pianist and co-founder of legendary rock band X Japan, he's spent decades bouncing between sold-out rock shows and world-class classical performances. Bit of a unique CV, really.

During the first night of Yoshiki's two-show Yoshiki Classical 2026 run in LA, the pair completely reimagined Korn's classic with a full orchestra behind them.

Yoshiki started out on piano while Davis handled vocals before jumping behind the drum kit for the song's huge finish. Safe to say, it wasn't your average orchestra concert.

The collaboration had already been teased before the show, but seeing Korn's frontman belting out Freak On A Leash backed by strings, brass and a grand piano is still one of those combinations you never knew you needed until it happened.

Yoshiki's no stranger to crossing musical worlds either. Alongside his career with X Japan, he's worked as a composer, classical pianist and producer, teaming up with artists from all corners of the music world. This latest link-up with Davis is another reminder that great rock songs can hit just as hard, even when you swap stacks of amps for a concert hall full of musicians.

And honestly, hearing Jonathan Davis with a full orchestra? Epic.
