'I need a hug': Jessie J opens up about breast cancer diagnosis

"I need to process it and talk about it."

Jessie J has opened up about her health in a raw and honest update.

Jessie revealed she was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer just over two months ago, and has spent most of this year ducking “in and out” of tests.

"Cancer sucks in any form, but I'm holding on to the word 'early’,” she said in an Instagram video update to fans.

She said she’d been unsure about going public with her diagnosis, but wanted to be real about what she’s going through.

Jessie confirmed she’s set to undergo surgery after performing a set at London’s Summertime Ball later this month.

"It's a very dramatic way to get a boob job," she said lightheartedly.

I am going to disappear for a bit to have my surgery, and I will come back with massive tits and more music.

"Selfishly, I do not talk about it enough," she continued. "I'm not processing it because I'm working so hard.”

“I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me with other people giving me their love and support and also their own stories. I'm an open book."

She also wanted to show support for others fighting the same battle.

It breaks my heart that so many people are going through so much similar and worse - that's the bit that kills me.

Jessie reckons the journey’s taught her heaps about life and perspective already.

"The timing of it has been mad but also beautiful and given me this incredible perspective in this time," Jessie later explained on her Instagram Story.

"But honestly I need to process it and talk about it and, I need a hug.”

“You have loved me through all my good and hard times. And I don't want this to be any different."

We’re wishing her all the best for a successful surgery and speedy recovery.
