Jamie Dornan believes fans will be surprised by Pamela Anderson's "big departure" in Love Is Not the Answer.
The Fifty Shades of Grey actor stars alongside the former Baywatch actress, as well as Steve Coogan and Lucas Hedges, in Michael Cera's feature directorial debut.
Reflecting on the shoot in an interview with Esquire, Dornan revealed that viewers will see a new side to Anderson in the absurdist comedy.
"Pamela Anderson is one of the sweetest, most shy, humble, lovely people that I've ever met. It's really her movie; she's carrying so much of it," he shared. "And it's a big departure from anything that people have seen her do before, even with the great work she's been doing in the last few years. People are really going to be surprised at what she does in this movie."
He described the film, written and directed by the Superbad actor, as "quirky and odd", and added, "I hope it lands with people. I think they'll really, really love it."
According to IMDb, in the comedy about "isolation and human bonds", Anderson plays an ageing actress who balances a new movie role, her needy son, romantic possibilities, and past regrets.
Anderson made her acting comeback with 2024's The Last Showgirl and has since starred in The Naked Gun reboot and the upcoming dark comedy Rosebrush Pruning.
Meanwhile, Dornan recently wrapped filming the TV shows 12 12 12 and The Undertow, and is gearing up to play the new Strider/Aragorn, the role made famous by Viggo Mortensen, in The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum.
On playing identical twins in The Undertow, he said, "Not a lot of actors get to do it. So I feel privileged but also terrified because you want it to work so much. And you need it to work. You need to put enough work into both human beings - no matter how alike they might be - that they feel like totally different entities. There's a pressure there just before you even begin. But I feel good about it."
