Jack Black and Jack White team up for ‘Seven Nation Army’ SNL performance

Jack Black and Jack White on stage

Saturday Night Live has finally answered the burning question… What happens when Jack Black hosts and Jack White is the musical guest on the same night?

You get two absolute forces of nature sharing a stage and having the time of their lives.

Black was already buzzing before he walked out, hitting his fifth time hosting and officially joining the Five Timers Club. He even spelled it out for the crowd, saying he was hosting for the “one, two, three, four, count 'em, fifth time!” The man loves a milestone.

The monologue rolled along nicely, with the usual parade of Five Timer cameos like Tina Fey, Jonah Hill, Candice Bergen, and Melissa McCarthy.

Black, ever the showman, had already teased it earlier in the week, calling Jack White his “brother from another color.” And sure enough, mid-monologue the familiar riff of Seven Nation Army hit.

White strolled out and joined Black for a loose version of the White Stripes classic, with the lyrics were tweaked to suit the Five Timers moment.

“We’ll be White Black,” Black said at the end of the performance, and I gotta admit, that gave me a chuckle.

It wasn’t the only White highlight either. Outside the monologue, he played two of his own new songs as the night’s musical guest, Derecho Demonico and G.O.D. and the Broken Ribs, his first singles since 2024’s No Name.

Personally, I reckon SNL can sometimes be a bit hit or miss. But I’ve gotta say, this episode was a hit for me.
