If you grew up watching iCarly, you’ll definitely remember Jennette McCurdy. She played Sam Puckett: the tough, sarcastic bestie who always had a butter sock ready to go.
In 2022, Jennette made headlines for something completely different: Her super honest, emotional (and darkly funny) memoir 'I’m Glad My Mom Died'. The book told us about the toxic relationship she had with her mum, the pressure of being a child star, and why she ended up quitting acting for good.
It quickly blew up and became a bestseller almost instantly. If you haven’t read it yet, I’d suggest you give it a read. Or if you’re like me, listen to Jenette read it to you herself through her audiobook. It's so good.
Now, the book’s being turned into a 10-episode dramedy for Apple TV+, and guess who’s been cast as the mum? Jennifer Aniston. Yep. That mum. The one thing the book was very much about.
Jennette isn’t just sitting back either; she’s co-writing, co-showrunning, and executive producing the whole thing, so hopefully this one is gonna stay true to her story.
The show will dive into her early acting life, the wild relationship with her mum, and the moment she finally walked away from the industry. It’s not clear yet who’s playing young Jennette, but that casting is gonna be key. Big shoes to fill, for sure.
We don’t have a release date yet, but with Jennette and Jennifer on board, this one’s already looking like it should go straight to the must-watch list.
