Iconic 'Home And Away' star Dieter Brummer passes away aged 45

Dieter Brummer was best known as Shane Parish on the Aussie soap.

Former Home and Away star Dieter Brummer, best known for playing heartthrob Shane Parrish in the 90s, has passed away at the age of 45.

The actor was found dead in Glenhaven, Sydney, on Saturday afternoon, News.com.au reports. His death is not being treated as suspicious.

Dieter's family released a statement after the tragic news broke.

"On behalf of my family, I post this today with a heavy heart," it read.

"We lost our handsome, talent, funny, complicated and beloved Dieter

"He has left a massive hole in our lives and our world will never be the same.

"Our thoughts go out to all of you who knew him, loved him, or worked with him over the years.

"We appreciate you respecting our privacy at this terrible time."

Shane's first appearance on Home and Away was in 1992, when he first hitched a ride with Alf Stewart. He then became part of one of Summer Bay's iconic couples, his character marrying Angel, famously played by Melissa George, in 1995.

Dieter's time on Home and Away ended in 1996 when Shane died of septicaemia on their first wedding anniversary after cutting himself on a wire.

The actor reappeared as corrupt cop Trevor Haken in 'Underbelly' seasons two and three, and had a short stint on Neighbours in 2011 as Captain Troy Miller.
