‘I cried’: Rog’s review of the ‘magical’ Oasis Manchester gig

An emotional Rog called us straight after seeing the band’s Manchester gig.

Rog from The Morning Rumble just saw Oasis live in Manchester, and rang us straight after the gig to give us an unofficial review.

Rog the Mahi Dog hopped on a call with Bryce this morning as he was exiting Heaton Park, voice half gone, and fireworks still thumping in the background. He told Bryce that it’s been ‘one of the best nights of his life.’

“Guys I’m really not just saying that. One of the best nights of my life from start to finish,” Rog told Bryce.

Rog and his wife Lis were some of the lucky people that managed to get themselves a ticket to the third Manchester gig - the town where it all started for Oasis.

“Just the fact that I got the tickets, just the fact that 30 million tried to get tickets… I got lucky. Lis and I got lucky,” Rog said. (We haven’t fact checked if it was 30 million who tried - but that’s not important - a lot of people did miss out.)

Speaking about the day, Rog told us, “The weather's been incredible. This is the most biggest crowd I’ve probably ever been to, The most well-behaved, nicest people, looking out for each other."

“A lot of love, a lot of people just absolutely just stoked - people crying.”

“Some people getting chucked out for throwing beer,” Rog laughed. Ya wouldn’t wanna be that person.

By the time we caught him on the phone, he was standing in the thick of the Heaton Park crowd with fireworks exploding around him which you could hear through the call. “Just culminating now in the fireworks,” he said, like a man narrating the closing scene of his own coming-of-age film.

Bryce asked how he was holding up emotionally, and Rog said, “It was so overwhelming.”

Speaking about his tumultuous journey getting to the gig, Rog said him and Lis nearly got on the wrong train, nearly ended up in Nottingham, and “just a lot of shit went down.”

“I woke up this morning going, ‘God, I hope today works,’ because there’s so much riding on it for me. And I love this band so much.”

And it did. It all came good. “Mate, it’s just fulfilled everything I ever thought would happen today.”

When Bryce asked him if he shed a tear at the gig, Rog didn’t hesitate.

“Oh mate, I cried… It’s been a magical day… I was even tearing up sort of on the way here, to be honest with you.”

Bless our Rogee. Yes - we rip into him a fair bit, but today we’re genuinely stoked for him. The bloke has travelled over to the UK for the very first time to catch one of his favourite bands, and it sounds like it couldn’t have gone better.

“We’re just walking out and it's just been an extraordinary night,” Rog said as we wrapped up the call. “I hope I get home, guys. Might see you Tuesdee.”

So, that’s the unofficial review from Rog: pure magic. No star rating, no setlist analysis - just a bloke who’s loved this band since day dot, and finally got to see them live.

How good. Check out his call with Bryce below.
