One of Aotearoa’s greatest films, ‘Hunt for the Wilderpeople’, is celebrating 10 years of Kiwi chaos, crack-up humour, and the skux life.

The iconic 2016 film is heading back to cinemas across the motu to celebrate - and EVERYONE is excited to experience it all over again.

The legendary cast, including Julian Dennison and Taika Waititi, have recorded special video messages to mark the special milestone, sharing their memories from filming and their excitement about the re-release.

Ricky Baker, aka Dennison, said: “Woah, 10 years. 10 years of the skuxxiest people, 10 years of the nummiest treats and 10 years of running around the bush. Thank you, guys, for loving it as much as we do.”

“Live that skux life because remember, we didn’t choose the skux life, the skux life chose us.”

Uncle Hec (Sam Neill) added: “It’s hard to believe it was ten years ago…”

“It is the kind of film that really is much more fun with an audience. I loved my fellow cast, loved my genius director Taika Waititi, and loved the whole experience. Save me a seat, wherever you are!”

Waititi himself wants Kiwis to “relive the adventure all over again”.

When reflecting on the film, Waititi said, in a statement: “Ten years?! Absolutely not. That’s fake news. I refuse to believe time works like that because it would mean I’m older, and frankly, I’ve decided that’s not my brand.”

In my mind, Julian is still ten years old, I’m still wearing the same track pants, and we’ve only just finished arguing about snacks in the bush.

“But honestly, seeing 'Hunt for the Wilderpeople' come back is pretty special,” he added. “It was this weird little Kiwi story about finding your place and your people, and somehow the world adopted it like a stray dog.”

“If anything, the re-release just proves that good stories don’t age… which is great, because clearly neither do I.”

Other favourites like Rachel House, Rhys Darby, Troy Kingi, Rima Te Wiata, Oscar Kightley and the rest of the crew joined in with their own celebration messages and fond memories of the film.

‘Hunt for the Wilderpeople’ hits cinemas in a remastered 4K version from Tuesday, March 31, so Easter plans are easy for the whole whānau.

Whether you’re revisiting the bush for the tenth time or seeing it on the big screen for the first - the skux life is waiting…
