Catch the latest episode of The House of Wellness with Chemist Warehouse on The Breeze where host Mike Puru, filling in for Mel Homer, sits down with former TV and radio host Stacey Morrison, makeup extraordinaire Lisa Matson and resident pharmacist Piyara Perera.
Featured Guest: Stacey Morrison
Beloved broadcaster, cultural advocate, good friend of Mike’s and this month’s cover of The House of Wellness magazine, Stacey Morrison, sat down to talk about her wellness journey.
Stacey discussed her holistic approach to wellbeing rooted in Māori principles, emphasising the importance of ‘Te Whare Tapa Whā’, a model that represents physical, social, mental and spiritual health.
As a working mother, she shared the challenges of balancing career and family. She also talked about appreciating the privilege of getting older, something that is particularly prevalent for her after losing her mother to breast cancer at a young age.
Facing a career shift after decades in radio, Stacey embraces change and finds strength through daily exercise, study and the unwavering support of whānau.
Featured Guest: Lisa Matson
Makeup extraordinaire Lisa Matson joined the show for a second time to share advice on evolving beauty routines for women over 40.
She highlighted the importance of adjusting product choices as the skin ages, suggesting sheer foundations, damp-skin moisturisers and blush to bring life back into the face.
Lisa also chatted about the power of a good brow shape, the secret to youthful eyes with softened eyeliner techniques and the underestimated impact of concealer for tired under-eyes.
Resident Pharmacist: Piyara Perera
This week, Piyara joined Mike to talk about shingles, a condition he has experienced before after being triggered by stress.
Piyara explained that shingles is a painful, blistering rash caused by the reactivation of the chickenpox virus, which remains dormant in the body. It’s more common in older adults or those with weakened immune systems.
Early treatment is key and pharmacists can identify symptoms and help manage them. The shingles vaccine has an over 90% success rate and is available at pharmacies without appointment.
