Resurfaced video shows how men should dance to attract women - and it's gold

An old study about what dance moves men can pull out to attract women is doing the rounds again - and it's truly brilliant!
Back in 2010, researchers from Northumbria University rounded up 19 men aged between 18 and 35 to test their dancing abilities. None of them were professional dancers, which honestly makes this whole thing even better.
Each guy was asked to dance to a simple beat while grooving with a motion-capture device, which tracked all their movements. Researchers then turned the performances into faceless 3D animations and analysed them based on things like movement speed, duration, variability, and amplitude.
A group of 37 women watched the animated dances and ranked which men they found the most attractive based purely on how they boogied.
Now that footage has resurfaced online, and people are losing it at what was apparently considered peak male dancing performance 15 years ago.
“So Chandler Bing was onto something,” one Instagram comment joked.
“MAGIC MIKE is so pissed they never found this out beforehand,” another wrote.
But not everyone’s convinced these moves are exactly pulling in 2026.
“I’m 100% approaching. Not because I find it attractive, but to make sure you’re okay,” one person commented.
Another added: “That one's NOT it for me. It’s a hard pass.”
As reported by Business Insider, the study found the “better” male dancers showed more central body movement and twisting, head movement, neck extension, and overall body variability.
Apparently, fast leg movements also boosted the rankings of attractiveness. Specifically - and kinda oddly - men who bent and twisted their right knee more often scored higher with the ladies.
So if your signature move at the club is just nodding your head while stepping side to side, science from 2010 says you need to up your game.
That said, remember that this study is over a decade old. It only looked at heterosexual attraction, and didn’t factor in culture.
Because realistically, as long as your confident busting a move, that's all that matters!
If anything, I hope this gives you that push to throw in a few more twists or right knee bends into your usual routine.
