Jenny-May credited her 50s as a turning point, bringing a sense of confidence, clarity and focus on family, culture and wellbeing. 

She opened up about her time on Breakfast, describing the privilege of holding space for people’s stories, and the power of connection in helping others feel seen. 

Now embracing a new phase, she’s passionate about encouraging others to take small, consistent steps toward change, reinforcing her belief that “confidence comes after action, not before it”.

Renowned chef Mark Southon joined the show to showcase nutritious, affordable ways to eat well during the colder months. 

He highlighted versatile ingredients like cauliflower, suggesting ‘cauliflower steaks’ as a hearty vegetarian alternative, and shared his secret for the perfect Thai pumpkin soup. 

Mark also recommended utilising cheaper cuts of meat like chuck, brisket and beef cheeks in slow cookers for effortless “one-pot wonders”.

Firefighter and founder of the Firefighter Sky Tower Star Climb, Tony Scott, introduced the Step Up Challenge happening this August to support Blood Cancer New Zealand. 

He explained the physical and mental grit required to climb the Sky Tower’s vertical steps and offered training tips like using rowing machines and interval steppers. 

Beyond the physical achievement, Tony reflected on how the event has raised millions to help New Zealanders living with leukaemia and blood cancers.

Editor Vanessa Marshall joined Mike to chat about the latest issue of The House of Wellness Magazine. 

With a refreshed look just in time for Mother’s Day, this month’s magazine is fronted by Jenny-May Clarkson and is centred on themes of reset and reinvention. 

Also featured in the magazine is actress and comedian Morgana O’Reilly, who discusses body image, motherhood and embracing physical changes with honesty and humour, as well as a community breast nurse who helps bust common breast cancer myths and highlight the importance of regular checks.
