Potterheads, the Hogwarts express is leaving again! The trailer for the brand new ‘Harry Potter’ TV series has just dropped!
This morning, HBO Max gave us our first proper look at the eight-episode series, titled ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’.
If you somehow need a refresher the story kicks off with Harry - a kid constantly told he’s “nothing special” by his Aunt Petunia. That is, until his 11th birthday, everything changes. One letter to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry later, and he’s thrown into a world of magic!
But with this new adventure comes great risk as Harry is forced to face a dangerous enemy from his past.
It looks like an absolute HOOT - yes, that’s a Hedwig reference.
Fans of all things 'Harry Potter' are loving the fresh look, with one writing: "25 years on and the magic is still there✨."
"It’s like stepping back into Hogwarts for the first time all over again," said another.
A third added: "They showed A LOT more than I was expecting. The sets look INSANE."
Back in May last year, HBO unmasked the fresh faces of the franchise - and they look pretty spot on to the OG casting for the films.
Arabella Stanton, Dominic McLaughlin, and Alastair Stout play Hermione, Harry and Ron, respectively.
"The talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together onscreen,” Director Mark Mylod said in a statement.
Alongside them is a stellar cast of stars, including: John Lithgow (Dumbledore), Janet McTeer (Minerva McGonagall), Paapa Essiedu (Severus Snape), Nick Frost (Hagrid), Rory Wilmot (Neville Longbottom), Lox Pratt (Draco Malfoy), Bel Powley (Aunt Petunia) and many more!
The series is described as a “faithful retelling” of J.K. Rowling’s beloved books, meaning there’s a good chance we’ll see all the stories - the ones that raised a whole generation - brought to life all over again.
"We are delighted to give audiences the opportunity to discover Hogwarts in a whole new way," says HBO CEO Casey Bloys said in a statement back in 2023. "Harry Potter is a cultural phenomenon and it is clear there is such an enduring love and thirst for the Wizarding World."
So whether you're a die-hard Potterhead or a newcomer to the series, there is a world of spells, potions, and magical creatures coming to our screens - and soon!
The ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’ series will debut Christmas 2026.
