Is The Edge’s Harrison Keefe actually HBO Max NZ's new 'Head of Marketing'?

Move over, corporate suits. There’s a new marketing mogul in town, and he’s currently running on three hours of sleep, pure adrenaline, and a $10,000 budget.
In a move that has left both media insiders and regular Kiwis scratching their heads, HBO Max has officially appointed Edge Afternoons co-host Harrison Keefe as their 'Head of Marketing' ahead of the streaming giant's launch into Aotearoa.
The announcement, which kicked off with a slick recruitment video on Thursday, initially looked like a classic case of Harrison punching well above his weight. But over the weekend, the radio host proved he is taking his new corporate responsibilities very seriously - by unleashing absolute mayhem across the airwaves and social media.
Armed with absolutely no marketing qualifications but an infinite amount of confidence, Harrison’s mission was simple: Make HBO Max impossible to ignore.
If you tuned into The Edge over the last 48 hours, you already know he’s treating that directive like a competitive sport.
Here is a quick recap of the corporate espionage Harrison has pulled off so far:
The Breakfast Hijack: Harrison successfully infiltrated Edge Breakfast, hijacking an entire content break to pivot the conversation entirely to HBO Max content, leaving the morning crew confused and maybe a little impressed.
The Saturday Takeover: Not content with just weekday disruption, he crashed the Edge Breakfast Best Of show on Saturday morning, turning a standard replay hour into a giant megaphone for his new employers.
The Instagram Hostage Situation: On Sunday, Harrison somehow got the password for The Edge's Instagram account and fully sent it on Stories. If you saw a bunch of frantic, HBO-obsessed content, now you know who to blame.
What's been said:
When asked about his sudden corporate glow-up, Harrison didn't hold back.
"I’m genuinely excited to be joining the HBO Max New Zealand team," Keefe says.
I’ve been quietly stockpiling ideas for a while now, ranging from smart and strategic to slightly unhinged in a very on-brand way.
"Looking forward to getting stuck in, making some noise, and hopefully creating work that people actually talk about for the right reasons. Really appreciate the opportunity, I’m absolutely stoked to be part of it."
As for the big corporate heavyweights at HBO Max? They seem fully aware of the monster they’ve unleashed.
"HBO Max officially lands on New Zealand shores TOMORROW, and an unsuspecting local has been appointed their 'New Zealand Head of Marketing'... none other than The Edge's Harrison Keefe!" a Very Important HBO Max Executive confirmed.
Harrison has thrown himself into the role, taking his new responsibilities very seriously and doing whatever it takes to spread the word. From big ideas to questionable marketing tactics, he's determined to make sure all of Aotearoa knows that HBO Max arrives tomorrow with some of the world's biggest and most talked-about entertainment.
Why is Harrison going this hard?
If you are wondering why Harrison is risking his sanity (and his day job) to pull these stunts, it's because HBO Max officially launches in New Zealand on the 16th of June 2026.
Kiwis can finally subscribe directly at hbomax.com to stream HBO's massive global hits like 'The Last of Us', 'The White Lotus', 'Euphoria', 'Succession', and 'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms'.
Plus, entire binge-worthy box sets of classics like 'Friends', 'The Big Bang Theory', and 'Rick and Morty' will be available at launch, alongside the massive HBO Originals, Warner Bros., DC Universe, and Discovery libraries.
To sweeten the deal, the service is launching with two ad-free tiers, featuring a heavily discounted introductory promotional offer for anyone who signs up before July 16, 2026:
Standard Plan: $10.99/mo (or $109.99 for the first year). Usually $15.99/mo (or $159.99/yr).
Premium Plan: $15.99/mo (or $159.99 for the first year). Usually $20.99/mo (or $209.99/yr).
What’s next?
Word on the street is that Harrison’s 'Head of Marketing' status has gone entirely to his head.
Rumours are swirling that he’s already planning to crash broadcasts from other media, plaster his face across billboards, and - according to some sources - pull off a death-defying stunt to literally shout HBO Max NZ from the rooftops.
As for how long his new corporate tenure will last, or how legit this fancy new title actually is... well, we’ll just have to wait and see. But until they take his company credit card away, we suggest keeping your eyes on The Edge socials. Harrison is just getting started.
