Graham Norton has made the same Eurovision joke for 14 years and fans finally noticed

Host Graham Norton has been running the same gag since 2009!

Comedian and TV host Graham Norton has been a long-standing host and UK commentator of the Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final - and it turns out he's also had a long-standing joke too!

In a video posted to the social media platform Reddit, it turns out that everyone's favourite late-night host has been making the same joke about France for the past fourteen years in the same segment.

The compilation shows clips of Graham Norton talking about France's presenters always standing in front of the Eiffel Tower as the country representative reads out the scores.

Beginning in 2009, Graham makes his first quip about French presenter Yann standing in front of the Eiffel Tower, commentating "Is there nothing else in Paris other than the Eiffel Tower?".

The next year, Graham has a quick dig at host Audrey being in the exact same place. "Oh again with the Eiffel Tower. Build something else famous, come on!"

And from there, Graham can't help but make sassy comments that these French presenters can't seem to pick a different monument in a different city.

"I wonder what city he's in? It's SO hard to tell..."

The sassiness got worse one particular year when the French voted the United Kingdom 1 point for a Eurovision year, and Graham didn't want to hide his annoyance. "One.we built a tunnel to your country!"

There was one "shock" year where instead of the Eiffel Tower, the presenter chose to stand in front of the Louvre.

"She could be anywhere!" he jokes, trying to stifle his laughter.

Fans couldn't help but question if it's Graham pulling the joke, or the French who can't help but be in front of the same tourist attraction every year.

"Wow I wonder if France knows they are getting savagely burned every single year by Graham Norton...they're just doing their job and this savage sarcastic British man is ripping into them," a YouTube user laughed.

"What's also dumb is that it's always a green screen," said another YouTube user.

This year, Eurovision was hosted in Liverpool on behalf of Ukraine who won last year. Swedish singer Loreen won the competition with her song 'Tattoo', beating out Finland's Käärijä with his song 'Cha Cha Cha'.
