After quietly splitting from a public three-year relationship with Glen Powell in 2023, Gigi Paris has broken her silence.
After Powell’s rom-com with Sydney Sweeney ‘Anyone But You’, rumours of romance between the two started to swirl like crazy.
The pair admitted to the New York Times that they were leaning into their “effortless chemistry” off-screen to sell their movie, despite both being in committed relationships.
To no surprise, not long after, Powell and Paris split.
Paris sat down with Emma Paige on the ‘Too Much’ podcast in an episode titled ‘Know your worth & onto the next’, giving us the answers we have all been waiting for.
Her frustration was obvious as she spoke about how the romance rumours were never addressed by Powell publicly.
The 32-year-old said that she “just wanted respect”, and for Powell to not “make an ass out” of her.
There was one thing that she wanted Powell to say: “No, I would never cheat on my girlfriend… that’s all that needed to be said.”
Paris spoke about the time where she was set to fly to Australia to work on a visa, while he filmed ‘Anyone But You’, but things took a turn for the worst.
She claimed Powell called her and said that, based on a decision with producers, “I think it’s best you don’t come visit”, then the rest of this sentence was bleeped out.
A lip reader in the comments says the missing line is “to keep the integrity of our (Powell and Sweeney) sexual chemistry safe”.
I know, my jaw dropped too.
Their relationship was rocky since the birth of the romance rumours, but she held onto hope as she planned to move to Australia. This phone call, however, was the last straw.
I had lost whoever that person was that I loved.
Paris reflected on how she felt like she had “two options.
“Pretend like I was going along with everything… or stand up for myself and say actually, ‘I'm not okay with this.’”
She was honest about how difficult this was for her, admitting that “I was shattered” and “completely blindsided”.
“At the end of the day, it was work comes first,” said Paris about Powell’s priorities, “Power to you… I gotta walk away.”
To make matters worse, Paris claimed she wasn’t even allowed on, or near, the set or production.
The situation was handled so poorly, Paris felt like she was “fed to the dogs”.
While rumours dominated the internet at the time, and occasionally still do, Paris said she never had confirmation over whether or not she was actually cheated on.
Paris joked that she’d hoped Powell and Sweeney “end up together… at least that would make it worth it.”
I hope they’re in love.
After two years of being graceful in silence, Paris found her power in her voice, and acknowledges this experience “made her the person she is today”.
Good on you Gigi, we’re rooting for you.
