Your virtual shopping experience is about to get a whole lot easier with a brand-new artificial intelligence (AI) feature.
Ever wondered what that floral dress or those tailored trousers would look like on your body? Well, Google is releasing a new virtual try-on feature!
You'll finally be able to figure out how that snazzy outfit you've had sitting in your cart will look on your body type before you hit that "buy now" button.
Google is using some fancy-schmancy generative AI technology, the same stuff that powers those cool chatbots and image-creation tools you've probably seen around.
With this virtual try-on feature, you'll be able to see clothes on all sorts of body types. You'll get a sneak peek at how that shirt drapes, folds and stretches on models of all different shapes and sizes - can I get a 'heck yeah'?!
It'll be like having your own personal runway show!
Google also revealed they'll be launching a groovy feature that helps you find similar clothing items in different colours, patterns, or styles from various online stores. It's giving personal online stylist vibes, and I'm totally here for living my celebrity dreams.
Now, you might be wondering how Google pulled off this virtual try-on magic. Well, they gathered loads of images of more than 80 models of different sizes, skin tones, body shapes, and ethnic backgrounds.
The models struck poses, turned left, turned right, and did everything they could to help Google's AI learn how clothes fit different people. The AI then worked its magic to generate realistic images of the models from all angles.
So while it won't be showing your exact body, it'll be a heck of a lot closer than some of the slim pickings we have to choose from on most clothing sites. Plus with the rate AI is growing, I'm sure it won't be long until we're uploading pics of our bodies and can style ourselves.
Honestly, I'm ready to ditch the busy malls to virtually try on trendy outfits without leaving my house. Bring it on!
