George Drive’s very own Brook Gibson has announced he’s engaged to his long-time partner Aria Phillips, and the proposal story is straight out of a classic Kiwi summer.

The couple shared the news with a simple joint Instagram post that read: “21.2.2026 💛” - letting the date do all the talking.

Brook popped the question at Hahei, a spot that’s clearly pretty special for the pair.

“I was adamant that I wanted to propose at Hahei. It’s quite a special spot for us. We’ve been coming here to camp our whole relationship, and it’s the first place we told each other we love each other.”

If you’re going to propose somewhere in Aotearoa, a golden beach in the Coromandel is a pretty solid pick. And thankfully, the weather came to the party too.

Brook said: “Glad the weather played ball. A week earlier, it was torrential rain and storms up Coro!”

“Also, it nearly all fell apart on day one when Arzi lost the ring in the sand in the dark. I came over to help look for it, and on the first scoop into the sand with my hand, it slipped onto my pinky. A bit of a sign, I think.”

The announcement quickly filled up with love from across the dance music world, with artists like MPH, Koven, A Little Sound, and Ekko & Sidetrack all dropping their congrats in the comments.

Just a month ago, Sin Howard - the other half of George Drive - also announced her engagement to Graham from Lee Mvtthews.

Massive congrats to Brook and Aria, and all the best for their next chapter together.

Hear the full story this afternoon on George Drive from 3 pm.
