Popular YouTuber and former Try Guy Ned Fulmer has broken his silence three years on from his major cheating scandal that rocked fans back in 2022.
ICYMI - Allegations emerged in September of 2022 that he'd cheated on his wife, Ariel Fulmer, with an employee of the Try Guys YouTube channel.
Ned had created a public persona as the ‘wife guy’, the two were together for TEN YEARS before the scandal, and have two children together - now seven and five years old.
Following the allegations, the Try Guys did an internal review, and soon after, Ned was removed from the group and edited out of future videos that had already been filmed.
In his first interview three years on from the scandal, Fulmer says: “I feel ready to share my story and to move on into a new chapter.”
Talking to People Magazine, Fulmer explained that once he stepped out of the spotlight, he took the time to really try to digest his actions.
He said he was “trying to understand why I had done what I had done”, especially when he “cared the most about” his wife.
“That was most devastating to work through and to realise - how much pain I had caused her,” he adds.
"It’s pretty well known that I was presenting myself as a ‘wife guy’ who talked about his adorable relationship. It was something fans seemed to resonate with, and I leaned into [it] consciously. It certainly was a part of my life.”
“I obviously dealt with it in a very self-destructive and painful way… I understand that that’s why it was such a big scandal - because it’s ironic and it feels like a rug pull to people. That must have been really painful and devastating to the viewers.”
He shared that he and Ariel had begun to go to couples therapy, but doubted if his marriage could survive at “many points” until they could identify the issues why their marriage wasn’t working and build a new “foundation of trust”.
He confirmed their relationship is “certainly stronger than it was before”.
“We have a much clearer sense of boundaries - understanding and respecting each other’s boundaries - as well as integrity and being direct with each other, even when it might be unpleasant.”
Every cent that we spent on therapy was worth it for the improvements in our family life.
However, reports yesterday from People and TMZ, seem to suggest the pair are now separated.
After three years away from content creation, Fulmer now plans to start a podcast interviewing people - drug addicts, gang leaders, etc. - about their lowest moments.
It’s fittingly titled ‘Rock Bottom’, and the first episode out today is a sit-down chat with Ariel to openly discuss where their relationship stands.
“The conversation was so brutal at times that we wanted to get up and walk out of the room,” he says about the episode.
“It’s one thing to talk about in a therapy setting,” says Fulmer. “It’s a really hard thing to have that conversation in such a way where you know people are watching it. But once we watched the full episode, it was something we were really proud of.”
