Folk singer Linda Perhacs 'found safely' after being reported missing

Folk singer Linda Perhacs has been "found safely" after going missing eight months ago.

Earlier this week, the singer-songwriter's friends and former manager Laurel Stearns issued a public plea for help in finding Perhacs, revealing that they had been unable to reach her since she was discharged from a residential care facility eight months ago.

In an update to Rolling Stone on Wednesday, Stearns announced that Perhacs, who is in her early 80s, "has been located and is safe".

"After a period of concern during which friends, collaborators, and members of the music community were unable to establish contact with Linda and had filed police reports accordingly. Law enforcement has just confirmed that she has been found and is safe," she said.

Stearns extended her "sincere thanks" to those who covered their search, shared information or expressed "genuine care" for the psychedelic folk artist's wellbeing.

"The overwhelming response from fans, fellow musicians, journalists, and the broader creative community has been a powerful reminder of the profound impact Linda's music," she continued. "We are especially grateful to the authorities for their assistance and to all those who worked behind the scenes to help bring clarity to this situation."

She added, "Thank you again to everyone who stood with Linda and helped ensure that she was found safely."

In a post on the singer's official Instagram page, Stearns offered a "positive update" and divulged that Perhacs is now "in a new care facility".

Perhacs is best known for her first album, 1970's Parallelograms, which received renewed attention in the '90s. She also released the albums The Soul of All Natural Things and I'm a Harmony in the 2010s.
