It’s taken a quarter of a century, four rejections, and a personal phone call from Mick Jagger to make it happen, but Fatboy Slim has finally released his "white whale."

The Brighton legend (real name Norman Cook) has just dropped ‘Satisfaction Skank’, a mashup of The Rolling Stones’ classic ‘(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction’ and his own big beat monster ‘The Rockafeller Skank’ - and the backstory is honestly just as good as the drop.

Norm actually cooked this track up 25 years ago purely because he was getting bored of playing the original ‘Rockafeller Skank’ in his sets. It quickly became his "secret weapon" encore, but every time he tried to release it, he got shut down by the suits.

Cook told the BBC he asked for permission four times over the last two decades and got a flat "no" every single time. He even had a call with Mick Jagger years ago where the frontman said he loved the mix, only for management to step in and block it.

But in a nice 2025 plot twist, the Stones reached out to him to make it official. They even sent the original master tapes over - delivered in an armoured van - so he could rebuild the track in high quality.

The result bridges the gap between classic rock radio and a sweaty warehouse rave perfectly. It starts off with that iconic Keith Richards riff that your dad loves, before that signature, squelchy Fatboy Slim bassline kicks in and completely changes the game.

It’s dirty, it’s loud, and it’s got just enough nostalgia to get the whole crowd singing before the beat absolutely folds them.

Last time Norm visited New Zealand, he stopped by George Breakfast to talk to his old mate General Lee about the mashup:

So what do ya think? Love it or nah? Give it a spin above or check out the extended version below, but one thing's for sure - be prepared to hear this be rinsed all summer long.
