Fans accuse Dave Grohl of 'not caring' after reports of Foo Fighters 'indefinite hiatus'

It's been a rough couple of years for the Foos.

The Foo Fighters are reportedly taking a "hiatus" from the stage.

The Seattle rock band made the decision after frontman Dave Grohl announced earlier this month that he had welcomed a baby outside his marriage.

The US Sun reports that the singer wants to be at home so he can focus on "earning back the trust of his family", and the rest of the group feels "a hiatus is the best thing for them collectively".

Fans have been quick to react to the reports. One Reddit user raised the point: "Well, he does have a newborn to raise."

“I get this is not a good thing for his personal life but how does this affect his music and seeing them live?’ another questioned. “People need to stop worrying with celebrities personal lives so much.”

A third suggested the decision for a break has been a long time coming. “Well between the death of Taylor and this scandal, the band has been going through it,” they wrote.

The report comes after the rock group unexpectedly cancelled their appearance at the Soundside Music Festival in Connecticut.

The announcement posted on the band’s Instagram angered plenty of fans who were left feeling let down by the Foos.

“The wording of the post was weird. There was no apology or anything. No info just ‘we’re not coming’ and they couldn’t even do it in first person,” one fan wrote in a Reddit thread.

“The wording and message seemed cold. I know they're trying to be direct and all but it just comes off as ‘we don’t care’,” someone else followed.

“Agreed,’ added a third. “As if it wasn’t bad enough they cancelled last minute because what…Dave was embarrassed at having his infidelity made public? But then they go and release that crappy statement? Naa man, not cool."

Grohl and The Foo Fighters haven’t officially confirmed a hiatus.

It's been a turbulent few years, with the loss of drummer Taylor Hawkins in March 2022, the death of Grohl's mum in August that same year, and now the birth of his new child.

The festival, which was scheduled to take place at the weekend, would have been the band's first performance since Grohl's bombshell news when the singer told followers that he had welcomed a daughter outside of his marriage.

Grohl added in his statement he loves his wife and their three daughters - Violet, 18, Harper, 15, and Ophelia, 10 - and was working to "regain their trust and earn their forgiveness".
