Ozzy Osbourne’s family have announced plans to launch an AI-powered hologram version of the late Black Sabbath legend, and fans are already very much against the idea.
The announcement was made by Sharon and Jack Osbourne at the Licensing Expo in Las Vegas last week, where they revealed “Digital Ozzy” will let fans interact with a hologram version of Ozzy that talks back in his own voice.
According to Sharon, “You can ask Ozzy anything, and he will answer you in his own voice, and the answers will be what Ozzy would have said.”
The tech’s being developed with companies Hyperreal and Proto Hologram, using AI trained on Ozzy’s real voice, image and movements. Jack said the digital version of his dad is “kind of scary how it’s really very accurate”.
Safe to say though, plenty of fans reckon the whole thing sounds grim as hell.
“I love Ozzy… but PLEASE WE DO NOT WANT THIS,” one person wrote online.
Another said: “Just let him rest in peace.”
Others called it “distasteful”, especially after Ozzy’s emotional farewell concert before his death in July 2025.
“Imagine creating a beautiful and meaningful farewell concert… for them to just make a computer version of you,” another fan wrote.
After the backlash kicked off, Jack jumped on a livestream to defend the project.
“It’s gonna be so tasteful, what we’re doing. It’s not gonna be fucking lame,” he said.
“This isn’t just, like, hooking up an image of my dad to ChatGPT. . . . This is some high-level technology that we're gonna be working with, and it's gonna feel very real. . . . It's kind of wild how it will be utilized. But, it's awesome,” he added.
Jack also claimed Ozzy was aware of the idea before he died and “would be into this”.
Didn’t exactly calm everyone down though.
“Tell your Mom we dont want no AI Ozzy!!!” reads the top comment.
“The best legacy Ozzy could have left is his music. The rest is just a money grab,” another fan commented on a social media post.
Honestly, the internet seems pretty united on one thing here: the Prince of Darkness deserves a proper rest.
