After years of waiting, ‘Euphoria’ is FINALLY coming back.
HBO has confirmed Season 3 will premiere Sunday, April 12, and the newly released trailer offers a dark, cinematic tease of what’s to come.
This eight-episode chapter marks a major and even more eye raising shift for the series. Creator Sam Levinson is pushing the once gnarly yet somewhat crack up storylines, beyond high school, and jumping forward in time to follow the characters as adults.
Navigating faith, guilt, redemption, and the damage they left behind. Prepare for the bigger questions, higher stakes, and even messier consequences (which is hard to believe after Season 2’s jaw dropping finale).
A few fans have been vocal about their concerns, with one YouTube comment stating: “I feel like I don’t even gotta rewatch s1 or s2 bc this is a new show entirely”
The rova office had many thoughts as well.:
“I’m not even interested, cause they took too long to release the season,” one person said.
“This doesn’t look bad, but definitely doesn’t look like Euphoria.”
That claim isn’t just hype. Season 3 was shot on brand new Kodak film stock, using both 35mm and 65mm, making ‘Euphoria’ the first TV series to shoot in 65mm. The result? A massive, more immersive look designed to mirror a wider, more dangerous euphoric world.
Most of the core cast are returning, including Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, Hunter Schafer, Alexa Demie, Eric Dane, Maude Apatow and more, alongside a stacked roster of guest stars, such as Sharon Stone, Rosalía, Natasha Lyonne and Trisha Paytas.
But with the emotional real-life loss of Angus Cloud, who played lovable drug dealer Fez and the uproar of Barbie Ferreira, who played the infamous Kat, not returning this season, it seems fans are preparing an entirely new show.
Season 3 lands four years after Season 2, and HBO is already hinting at this being the show’s final chapter.
Actor Colman Domingo, who plays Rue’s sponsor Ali, was interviewed at the Golden Globes and called the upcoming season “devastatingly gorgeous”, suggesting the show is evolving beyond traditional TV. “It’s becoming more cinema than television,” he said.
With the switched-up visual renovation, expanded cast, and a time jump that changes everything, ‘Euphoria’ Season 3 is shaping up to go out swinging and hasn’t entirely turned everyone away.
At this point, I think we’re all just curious and anxious to see how they bring this to an end.
