JoJo Siwa's recent 'bad girl rebrand' is causing a stir online, and some eagle-eyed fans have uncovered a fascinating twist - her latest track 'Karma' might have once been meant for (and rejected by) none other than Miley Cyrus.
The detective work began with @adamtheflop on TikTok, who unearthed old tweets from Rock Mafia and Timbaland which hinted at them working on a song named 'Karma' with Miley back in 2012.
In one tweet, Miley wrote, "Don't forget me bitch," sparking Rock's reply with #karmasabitch.
Further fuelling the theory, the credits for JoJo's 'Karma' list Rock as the producer and writer, alongside Antonia Armato, known for her work with Disney stars like Miley and Selena Gomez.
JoJo has been open about how much of an influence Miley has had on the overhaul of her 'JoJo with the Bow-Bow' kid-friendly brand.
"[Miley] is my number one idol. I want to do what she did with Bangerz," she said at this year's iHeartRadio Music Awards.
"I want to have that moment."
It's possible that Miley held back 'Karma' because she was still signed with Disney and the explicit language wouldn't fly with them. But if that's true and JoJo picked it up all these later, that's actually ICONIC.
Fans have been loving the possibility, with one Twitter user writing: "Wait. karma (JoJo) was a scrapped Miley Cyrus song??? NO FREAKING WAY"
"I neeeed to hear the Miley Cyrus demo of 'Karma'," said another.
While a third added: "Finding out that 'Karma' was originally a Miley Cyrus song makes so much sense."
Whether you're a fan or not, JoJo's rebrand is working for her and she absolutely knows what she's doing every step of the way.
You've got to give credit where it's due—the hustle is real.
