Experts have predicted the top 10 baby names of 2023 and they might surprise you

You might be surprised by what has made the list and even more surprised by what hasn't.

Not many people are likely to name their children after a direction (North West), a fruit (Apple Martin) or whatever X AE A-XII Musk means, and will instead opt for something more common.

Luckily for those of you who can't decide, or even those who want to stay away from names that might be 'too common', experts at Names.org have predicted the most popular names for both boys and girls for 2023 based on a wide variety of statistics across the United States.

And if you aren't quite ready to start your own little family, they have also included 10 names that are rising in popularity and are likely to push towards a top 10 spot in the coming years.

Liam is predicted to be the most popular boy's name followed by Noah, Oliver, James, Elijah, Henry, William, Lucas, Benjamin, and Theodore.

Top 10 boys' baby names for 2023:

While Jack continues to be a popular choice for parents across America, it has fallen out of the top 10 this year, while Jackson is also declining.

Experts say Jack, Levi, Mateo, Luca and Asher are rising in popularity and are likely to break into that top 10 list in the coming years.

As for the girls, Olivia continues to be the reigning queen with Emma, Amelia, Charlotte, Ava, Sophia, Mia, Isabella, Evelyn, and Luna rounding out the list.

Unfortunately for royal lovers, Elizabeth has taken a hit since last year and has been pushed out of the top 10, declining in popularity alongside Camilla and Harper while Eleanor, Gianna and Nora are some slightly less common girls names that could be making their way into the top 10 sometime soon.

Luca, Waylon, Kai, Hudson and Ezekiel are the top boy's names gaining recent traction with Isla, Willow, Eleanor, Nora and Leilani also becoming more prevalent.
