Lavar Ball gave us some EXCLUSIVE NEWS when he came in to chat with the Morning Crew earlier today, regarding his son LiAngelo.
"Big Baller finna hit you this," he said after teasing he's got an exclusive for us. "This ain't even heard over in the states. My son, LiAngelo Ball, wants to play for the New Zealand Breakers."
Boom.
"I'm tryna let y'all know," Lavar continued. "It's finna go wild. Simon, the GM, get in touch with the Big Baller (that's Lavar). I'm bringing another Ball brother to the NBL - heard first on the show where it goes down!"
That's some pretty massive news considering just how famous the Ball brothers are. Lavar's other two sons, LaMelo and Lonzo, are talented NBA players but have been in the public light long before going pro, largely from their high school basketball efforts and outspoken father.
LaMelo is the star point guard of the Charlotte Hornets and has a whopping 9.8 million Instagram followers. Lonzo, who is signed to the Chicago Bulls but has been battling a disheartening knee injury for the past couple of seasons, has a mammoth 16.5 million Instagram followers.
LiAngelo has 2.9 million followers. The lower number is probably due to him not quite being able to cut out a role for himself in the NBA. He's played a couple of games on the Hornets, but never got a full-time contract and stayed in the big league. He is currently in the NBA's development league, the G-League, signed with the Greensboro Swarm.
His lack of a role in the states could mean him coming to hoop in Aotearoa is legit, and, say what you will about him, but Lavar Ball can make ish happen.
The Breakers came this close to winning the Australian NBL. Just losing to the Sydney Kings in a final series that came down to the final few minutes. Could LiAngelo Ball and the Big Baller Brand family be the difference maker next season? Lavar Ball certainly thinks so, and he's NEVA LOST.
