Emma Thompson frightens as Miss Trunchbull in first look at 'Matilda The Musical'

I wouldn't want Emma Thompson as my teacher either!

One of Roald Dahl's most beloved stories is getting a reboot and Netflix has just released the first teaser for 'Matilda the Musical'.

The Netflix adaptation of the musical directed by Matthew Warchus stars Alisha Weir as Matilda with Stephen Graham and Andrea Riseborough portraying her parents.

Lashana Lynch plays her kindhearted teacher Miss Honey and Academy Award winner Emma Thompson depicts the most frightening Miss Trunchbull.

'Matilda the Musical' is based on Tim Minchin and Dennis Kelly's Tony and Olivier award-winning West End theatre musical.

The musical was adapted from Dahl's original 1988 children's story, about Matilda, a little girl born into a lazy, unintelligent and neglectful family who demonstrates intelligence from an early age.

"She discovers her superpower and summons the remarkable courage, against all odds, to help others change their stories, whilst also taking charge of her own destiny. Standing up for what's right, she's met with miraculous results," the synopsis reads.

The film is the second adaptation of the original 'Matilda' novel, following the 1996 film which Danny DeVito starred in and directed alongside our much loved Matilda played by Mara Wilson.

I'm getting the popcorn ready for this one, set to premiere on Netflix this December!
