Elizabeth Olsen says it's safer not to know about upcoming Avengers films

Elizabeth Olsen has admitted that it's "safer for her to not know anything" about the upcoming Avengers films because then she can't slip up in public.

The WandaVision star has played Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2014, and she last made an appearance in 2022's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

While most of her MCU co-stars are returning for Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, Olsen's involvement has not been confirmed, and the future of the Scarlet Witch remains uncertain.

During an on-stage discussion at the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (C2E2) over the weekend, Olsen insisted she knew "nothing" about the films, which she prefers, as it means she doesn't have to lie or worry about making a mistake.

"I know about (upcoming TV show) VisionQuest because I've seen Paul (Bettany) in the last six months. I know nothing about any of it," she said. "I don't know what's going on. It's safer for me to not know anything because then I can't make a mistake in a situation like this. I'd rather know nothing."

The Eternity actress noted that she has spoken to Marvel bosses and "offered up things I would like to do" as Scarlet Witch in the future, however, she pointed out that it's "been a minute since I've had those types of conversations".

Olsen added that she only wants to return as the character if it serves the story, instead of simply being a surprise for the fans.

"My whole thing is if I can serve a story and help, and we can use this character to make that story better instead of just being thrown in there just for a secret, then I would be so excited to do that," she shared, reports Deadline. "I just want to be of service to telling these stories better each time."

Avengers: Doomsday, which will be released in December, stars returning Marvel mainstays Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Sebastian Stan, Paul Rudd and Anthony Mackie, as well as Robert Downey Jr. in a new role as Doctor Doom.

Avengers: Secret Wars will hit cinemas in December 2027.
