Ed Sheeran’s heading south! All you need to know for his two Christchurch shows

After three epic nights in Auckland and Wellington over the past week, Ed Sheeran is headed South.
For the first time since April 2015, he’s returning to Ōtautahi Christchurch with his ‘Loop Tour’ to play Apollo Projects Stadium on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th January.
Joined by special guests Vance Joy, Mia Wray and Biird, it’s sure to be a performance packed with his latest bangers as well as the nostalgic sing-a-longs.
While Saturday’s show is sold out, tickets to his Sunday show are still available, with the release of last minute tickets starting from $69.90.
Here’s everything you need to know for this weekend’s shows:
TIMING
2:00 pm: Box Office opens
4:00 pm: Gates open
5:00 pm: Show starts
The stadium recommends arriving early to allow time for security checks and scanning in.
While it hasn’t been officially announced what time Ed will come out, his previous NZ shows had Ed’s set start at 8pm, and run close to three hours.
VENUE & MERCH:
The stadium is located at 95 Jack Hinton Drive, Addington, Christchurch.
For the best drop-off points:
Gate A is accessed via Whiteleigh Ave
Gate B is via Lincoln Road
Gate D/E on Lindores Street (via Lincoln Ave).
Merchandise will be available outside of Gate A and near the south stand between Gate D&E. See here for a full map of the stadium.
GETTING THERE & ROAD CLOSURES:
Parking is available at the stadium through pre-purchased parking passes only. To purchase a parking pass, see here.
Please note there will be parking restrictions on the surrounding streets from 10am.
There will also be road closures on:
Twigger Street and Jack Hinton Drive from 3pm
Whiteleigh Ave from 10pm till Midnight
ADDITIONAL DETAILS:
Apollo Projects Stadium is a cashless venue. Only EFTPOS and credit cards will be accepted at food and beverage outlets.
Bags must be under 30cm x 30cm. Ideally no bigger than A4 size.
Drink bottles must be sealed and can’t be over 1L.
Free water will be available at refill stations throughout the stadium.
The venue has both wheelchair access and support animals are also welcome.
Umbrellas are not permitted inside the stadium. If it is raining, please consider bringing a raincoat or poncho.
First Aid will be located in the area between Gates D&E. If you need assistance, you may also text ‘SOS’ to 226 followed by your message and location.
