Actress and talk show host Drew Barrymore has been praised for the way she reacted after an alleged stalker of hers attempted to storm the stage.
The E.T. actress was interviewing singer-songwriter Reneé Rapp at a 92nd Street Y New York event when she was suddenly interrupted by a man in the crowd who shouted her name.
In footage of the encounter shared on TikTok, Drew is seen startled by the interruption, but attempts to locate the person in the crowd, saying "Oh my god, yes? Hi."
Drew attempts to continue to engage in a friendly manner while Reneé is seen visibly unsettled as the man begins to approach the stage.
"I'm Chad Michael Busto, you know who I am," he tells Drew. "I need to see you at some point while I'm here in New York."
Reneé then encourages Drew to calmly get up and walk off the stage arm in arm, while security swooped in to stop the man who is at the foot of the stage.
"Well, that was weird!" Drew is heard saying, before the microphones are cut.
The pair returned to the stage once the man was escorted out of the venue.
Reneé told the audience later that she was impressed by how calm the actress was and had dismissed extra security support.
"They're like, 'Do you need anything, do you need us to stay?' [Drew] was like: 'Oh no, I got it, I'm good!'"
The actress also joked that the singer was her own 'Bodyguard', referencing the 1992 Whitney Houston film.
"Well, I got a new definition of your sexiness, it's that level of protectiveness. That went full Bodyguard! You are my Kevin Costner!" she said to Reneé.
