Electric Avenue 2026 went out with a bang during Dom Dolla’s final headline set, featuring a mix “only Kiwis would appreciate.”
The sold-out two-day festival drew close to 90,000 people, with around 45,000 punters packing Hagley Park on Saturday for Dom’s closing set.
He knew exactly what the crowd wanted, creating a special mix that included none other than the unofficial NZ anthem - Dave Dobbyn’s 'Slice of Heaven'.
“I was sitting on the 14-hour flight to get here, and I thought, ‘What can I make these guys that only they would appreciate? Something I could only play here and nowhere else on the planet,’” Dom told the packed crowd.
As Dobbyn’s unmistakable voice hit the speakers, tens of thousands of fans threw their hands up, jumping and singing along.
It wouldn’t be a Dom Dolla set without one of his biggest tracks, 'Rhyme Dust' mixed in - peak energy that every festival-goer felt to their core.
Kiwi duo Saachi said: “How to explain this to someone that’s not a Kiwi? 😂.”
“RAVE DOBBYN,” another added.
A third commented: “Not from New Zealand, but I just KNOW this was some epic sh** ✨.”
Someone else wrote: “Every soul in that crowd was literally born for this moment 😂.”
It wasn't the only tailored mix of the night. Dom ended the night with Canterbury’s own anthem, Scribe’s 2011 hit 'Not Many - The Remix!', blending it with 'Rhyme Dust' as a massive fireworks display lit up the sky.
Every Cantabrian screamed along, shouting “CANTERBURYYYYY,” and Scribe himself reshared fan videos to his Instagram story, with one calling it a “special moment.”
With more than 50 acts across five stages, Electric Avenue 2026 delivered another epic end to Kiwi summer festies.
Until next year, we’ll be riding this high!
