Dolly Parton streams soar by 2200 per cent after her death

Dolly Parton's streams have soared by more than 2000 per cent since the singer died on Tuesday.

As soon as the news of her passing hit, fans sought solace in her illustrious catalogue, sparking a 2222 per cent bump in US streams since Monday, according to music data company Luminate.

Billboard reports that Parton's most-streamed song after her death was her classic Jolene, which earned 2.7 million on-demand streams in the US on Tuesday alone.

Back in 1973, the vulnerable song about a woman pleading with a green-eyed beauty not to steal her husband earned Parton her first entry onto the Billboard Hot 100, and the outlet noted that it is expected to return to the chart next week, along with more of the superstar's music.

9 to 5, the pop-country smash that accompanied the singer's debut film of the same name, came in close second with 2.3 million streams. I Will Always Love You followed with 1.7 million; Here You Come Again notched 1.3 million; and Islands in the Stream rounded out the top five with 1.1 million.

Parton's catalogue also saw major sales bumps across digital and physical releases in the US, with 7.3 thousand products sold on Tuesday.

Parton passed away at the age of 80 after a brief battle with cancer.
