Stand-up comedian Samay Raina has once again found himself at the epicenter of a heated debate over comedy boundaries. Following his latest appearance on India’s Got Latent, viewers sparked backlash online, questioning whether the comedian crossed acceptable limits after making personal jabs at veteran actress Archana Puran Singh and her family.

During the episode, Raina poked fun at Archana’s famous laughter before directing a jab at her personal life, referring to her sons in the audience as "nalle" (unemployed) and questioning her husband's work. The remarks immediately ignited social media outrage, with critics branding the comments as disrespectful and inappropriate. The viral moment also reached the airwaves, where Vijay and Pooja took up the story on their breakfast show to share their own take on whether the roast humor went too far.

Addressing the controversy in a recent vlog, Archana's son, Aaryamann Sethi, came out in defense of the comedian. Settling the debate from his perspective, Aaryamann stated that the joke was meant lightheartedly and that viewers have simply become "too sensitive".

"He did not mean to hurt me or anyone in my family," Aaryamann explained, noting that he shares a close friendly relationship with Raina. He further highlighted that when the subject of a joke has no issue, audience outrage becomes unnecessary: "I understand when people say that a line was crossed, but honestly, when the person who is the subject doesn't have a problem, I don't think it's so important for everyone else to get upset."

While the involved parties have brushed off the incident as good-natured ribbing, the episode reopens a larger question: in an era of edgy roast-style stand-up, is humor going too far, or are audiences simply taking jokes too personally?
