Humm has officially kicked off the Diwali celebrations in Aotearoa with a vibrant evening in Manukau with Mahindra NZ Diwali, bringing together community, culture, music and the spirit of togetherness.

The event was a wonderful reflection of the energy and diversity of South Auckland, with members of the community coming together to celebrate one of India’s most cherished festivals, the Festival of Lights.

A special highlight of the evening was the presence of Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, who joined the celebrations and addressed the crowd, acknowledging the importance of Diwali and the significant contribution of the Indian and wider South Asian communities to New Zealand.

The evening was filled with color, music and entertainment, featuring a fantastic line-up of performances that kept the crowd engaged and added to the festive atmosphere.

Adding an international flavor to the celebrations was a special performance by acclaimed Indian singer Mohd Sadiq, who brought his music to the Manukau stage and gave the audience a memorable taste of Indian musical culture.

From traditional performances to live music and community connections, the event captured the true essence of Diwali, celebrating light, hope, culture and togetherness.

As Diwali celebrations continue across Aotearoa, the Mahindra Rise NZ event provided a vibrant opening to the festive season, showcasing how culture and community continue to bring people together in New Zealand.

Diwali has officially begun and Manukau certainly started the celebrations in style.
