A standout fa’aluma from an Auckland school is going viral for straight-up stealing the show at this year’s Polyfest.

Dilworth School’s Samoan group had the crowd locked in with their sāsā - a traditional dance with clapping rhythms and hand movements (pati or patia and po).

But it was their fa’aluma, Jesse, who took things to another level.

“Creativity of Dilworth is next level,” a TikTok user captioned the video.

Jesse came through with the perfect mix of sass, humour, and hype-man energy, dropping pop culture references left, right and centre.

From “clocking it” mid-performance to working in the viral “1,2,3 release ‘em” trend (the viral lyric from Neace Robinson’s track 'I Wish That Heaven Had A Phone').

Even the dramatic slow-running TikTok trend made an appearance, and it absolutely sent people into hysterics.

The whole Dilworth group delivered a solid and clean sāsā, but let's be real, Jesse absolutely owned that stage.

The clip has now racked up over 387k views and 46k likes, with plenty saving it for a pick-me-up, later.

Commenters are loving the performance, with one writing: “ATE DOWNNNN.”

“Straight up Crack up to me😅,” said another.

A third said it “gives first place vibes”.

And while they didn’t quite take the overall win for sāsā, Dilworth still came through with serious results.

They were crowned 1st place in Ulufale, Fa’ataupati and Pese o le Aso, backed it up with 2nd place finishes in Ulufafo, Togiga and Sāsā, and took 3rd in Taualuga.

And it's not hard to see why they had such strong results.
