David Dallas is set to take to a stage close to his heart next month in aid of Aotearoa's music scene.
The NZ rapper will perform at Galatos on September 26th - the very same place he first played on an "actual proper stage" in the early 2000s.
Fans will be able to attend with just a koha at the door, and all the funds raised will go straight back into Galatos' running costs, which have increased 30% in the last year.
DDot is the first 'Venue Veteran', spearheading a new initiative that will see Kiwi musicians perform at the venues that launched their careers.
Galatos is one of many spots that has struggled to keep their doors open amidst the financial pressures of the past few years.
"I was fortunate that when I was coming up, there were way more venues than there are now," Dallas said in a press release.
"There were more opportunities to learn the craft of performing live in front of people."
"If you don't have these venues then you're missing this valuable step which helps you become a better artist and a better performer," he added.
Research from Tiger Beer - who teamed up with music industry expert Dan Woolston to start the campaign - shows that a massive 75% of NZ small and medium-sized hospo businesses have been doing it tough.
Fans will need to register their RSVP to get a spot to see David Dallas do his thing, so get sorted and get your kohas ready, fam - it's bound to be iconic.
