Comedy fans got an early Christmas pressie from Dave Chappelle with the surprise Netflix drop The Unstoppable… on December 19. Chappelle teased it himself on social, thanking his October Washington, D.C. crowd and telling fans “my new special drops, and I hope you love it.”
This is Chappelle’s eighth special with Netflix and it’s got his signature sharp, provocative banter all over it. Recorded in his hometown, he dives into everything from the National Guard in D.C. to the weirdest corners of pop culture and politics.
True to form, Chappelle doesn’t pull punches. He responds directly to critics about his recent Riyadh Comedy Festival set and his comments on free speech overseas, even taking aim at Bill Maher with some intense crowd-ready burns. He also tackles hot topics like the death of conservative figure Charlie Kirk, cracking jokes about the absurdity of some of the comparisons people made online. There’s even a wild set piece about an awkward night at Diddy’s place that balances edgy humour with a strangely human moment.
Love him or grumble about him, Chappelle keeps us paying attention. Netflix subscribers can stream The Unstoppable… now and see why he’s still one of stand-up’s biggest conversation starters.
