WATCH: Dan Webby’s emotional Father's Day letter for Clint will have you SOBBING

“I knew if I could be half the dad Clint is, I would be winning.”

The Edge Breakfast’s Dan Webby made sure there wasn’t a dry eye in the studio after sharing a powerful Father's Day letter he’d penned for his cohost, Clint Randell.

Dan, who’s about to celebrate his second Father’s Day with his son George, says Clint has been a big inspiration for how he approaches fatherhood - especially since he grew up without a father figure himself.

“Like many people, my parents separated when I was very young,” Dan explains.

“I’d see my dad occasionally, but it was my beautiful mum Jules who raised my brother and I - and did an amazing job.

“When you become a parent yourself, you see other parents who inspire you and make you a better Dad as a result. Whether that be your own mum or dad, a grandparent or friend…”

That person for me is you, Clint.

"Father’s Day is this weekend, and this Sunday I will be celebrating my second Father’s Day as a dad.

“I know we joke and give each other crap on this show all the time. Yes, Clint has teeth whiter than a national party convention, and he’s had more tans than I’ve had hot dinners.

“But in all seriousness, when I think of Clint. The first thing that comes to mind is ‘incredible dad’.

Even before we had George, I knew if I could be half the dad Clint is, I would be winning.

“Nobody adores their kids more than Clint. Wherever he goes, Cam and Ty are never far behind. Why? Because you can tell - they think the world of you.

“I’m sure Cam and Ty think it’s normal to have a dad as dedicated, fun, loving and caring as you. But I, for one, know it's much rarer than we all think.

“Our parents are the main influence on our lives, especially in those formative years, and I can think of no better role model for your kids than you, Clint.

I know one day they will look back on their childhood and know they hit the jackpot with you.

So this is a shout-out to all the amazing dads out there, like Clint. Dads who are sharing the load with equally incredible mums, single dads who are doing it alone and single mums like my mum who sometimes have to be dads too. Sunday is your day, happy Father’s Day, you deserve it.

I love you Clint.

The two ended up sharing a moving hug with Clint clearly in shock, saying: “That's so special. I genuinely had no idea that you were gonna do that.”

Many people took to the comment section to express their emotions over Dan’s letter. One person wrote: “You got me, Dan, what an amazing thing to say of a great friend. You’re truly a special man.”

“Thank you for normalising such open and honest man-to-man emotional communication,” said another. “Both of you are absolute legends.”

A third added: “Excellent, a great example of friendship and respect”.

It’s a reminder to all of us this Father’s Day to appreciate those who raised and inspired us - whoever that may be.
