"However, I believe in our strategy's execution and cost management, which will drive a robust recovery for the company and our partners," the new CEO said.

In a significant move within New Zealand's agricultural sector, Silver Fern Farms has officially announced the appointment of Dan Boulton as their new Chief Executive.

The appointment, set to commence from February 2024, comes as a testament to Boulton's extensive experience and dedicated service to the company.

Boulton, presently serving as Silver Fern Farms' Chief Supply Chain Officer, boasts a commendable tenure of over six and a half years within the organisation. His professional background spans various industries, including seafood, horticulture, and forestry, showcasing a diverse skill set and a breadth of industry knowledge.

Rob Hewett, Co-Chair of Silver Fern Farms, emphasised the rigour of the recruitment process, noting the substantial interest from both national and international candidates.

"We had the privilege to review a pool of high-calibre applicants for the role, including some noteworthy international contenders," Hewett remarked.

However, the board's decision leaned toward Boulton due to his comprehensive understanding of the company's intricacies and his aptitude for navigating prevailing market challenges.

"Dan not only possesses a deep understanding of our operations but is also the right individual to steer us through the current market uncertainties while sustaining the company's forward momentum."

Expressing his enthusiasm for the upcoming role, incoming Chief Executive Dan Boulton conveyed his excitement in leading Silver Fern Farms.

"I'm honoured to take on this responsibility and am optimistic about the prospects that lie ahead for Silver Fern Farms and our farming partners," Boulton stated.

Acknowledging the industry's current hardships, Boulton remained sanguine, affirming his confidence in Silver Fern Farms' resilience.

"I recognise the present difficulties faced by our partners across the supply chain."

"However, I believe in our strategy's execution and cost management, which will drive a robust recovery for the company and our partners."

Boulton is slated to assume his new position in February, succeeding Simon Limmer, the current Chief Executive. Limmer will continue in his role until early February.
