The Dairy Women's Network (DWN) has unveiled the contenders for the coveted title of Regional Leader of the Year for 2024, highlighting the outstanding contributions of women in the dairy industry and beyond.

Among the finalists for this prestigious accolade are Leilani Lobb, Rebecca O'Brien, and Laura West, whose exemplary leadership and commitment to their communities have earned them recognition.

The award celebrates women who embody excellence at the grassroots level, demonstrate leadership within their localities, and uphold the core values of the DWN.

Jules Benton, CEO of DWN, expressed admiration for the calibre of nominees, emphasising their role in reshaping perceptions within the traditionally male-dominated dairy sector.

"It is so inspiring to see the calibre of women providing leadership in the dairy industry and their communities," Benton remarked.

"These women are turning stereotypes on their heads, exemplifying DWN values, and driving positive change in their communities and the agriculture sector as a whole."

Acknowledging the increasing standard of nominees each year, Benton noted that the finalists represent a shift in industry dynamics, showcasing the significant impact of female leadership in shaping the future of dairy farming.

The winner of the Regional Leader of the Year award will be announced during the DWN 2024 Conference Gala dinner themed "Enhance, Elevate, Evolve" in New Plymouth on Thursday, May 2nd.

Describing the award as "much-coveted" and potentially "life-changing," Benton highlighted the significance of the recognition, underscoring its transformative potential for the recipient.

The recipient of the award will receive a registration to the Dare to Lead program, based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown, providing them with valuable tools and insights to further enhance their leadership capabilities.

As anticipation builds for the upcoming announcement, the DWN community eagerly awaits the opportunity to celebrate the remarkable achievements of these exceptional women who continue to inspire and drive positive change within the dairy industry and beyond.
