Ariana Grande was ambushed by a fan on the yellow carpet in Singapore, and Cynthia Erivo proving she is the definition of ride or die might be the best thing to come out of the Wicked tour so far.

Ariana was walking the carpet at the Wicked: For Good premiere with Cynthia, Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum and director Jon M Chu when a man suddenly jumped the barricade and sprinted toward her.

In the footage, he wraps an arm around Ariana and starts jumping up and down like he genuinely thinks this is a meet and greet. Ariana looks shocked, fans nearby can be heard calling out, “Are you ok?”, and before anyone has time to blink, Cynthia steps right in.

Cynthia reacts in about half a second, gets between them, and shoves the guy off Ariana before anyone else even processes what’s happening. Michelle Yeoh follows in to make sure Ariana’s alright while security deals with him.

The fan has since been identified as Johnson Wen, who later posted the moment on Instagram with the caption, “Dear Ariana Grande Thank You for letting me Jump on the Yellow Carpet with You.”

He is known for interrupting big events, including Katy Perry’s Sydney show, a Weeknd concert, and even the Paris Olympics.

Ariana and Cynthia have not commented yet, but Wicked fans are already praising Cynthia for stepping in so quickly. Honestly, absolute queen behaviour from Cynthia.
