Countdown supermarket is axing its name and making other major changes as part of a big rebrand

Brace yourselves for a blast from the past because Countdown is going back to its roots and renaming itself back to Woolworths.

According to the Countdown website, this move is all about becoming a better business. They've been working tirelessly to up their game, and now they're ready to share the best of both worlds across the Tasman.

Over the next few months, you'll start seeing store signs swapping out for the iconic Woolworths branding.

But wait, there's more! Countdown has decided to sprinkle some extra changes into the mix.

They're launching a brand new 'Everyday Rewards' loyalty program in 2024 and are investing a whopping $400 million towards store upgrades and openings around the country.

They're also throwing in $45 million towards boosting security and up-skilling their staff.

Woolworths Group Chief Executive, Brad Banducci, spilled the beans to 1News that they've introduced 'Sonder', a 24/7 well-being solution that's not just for the Woolworth's team, but for their whole whanau too. It's great to see more Kiwi businesses focussing on mental health and well-being, so big ups to Woolworths!
