The famous Glambot host and photographer who works Hollywood’s biggest award shows has spoken out after the Internet raged on his behalf over a ‘rude’ encounter with Jennifer Lopez.
Cole Walliser recently attended the Golden Globes with his Glambot camera, and of course, the internet spent hours watching all the celeb footage in slow-mo.
But it was the interaction - or lack of one - from J-Lo that really got people fired up.
Under the now-viral clip, fans of Cole pointed out the apparent hostility shown by the actress.
“My favourite part was when she didn’t look at, speak to, or smile at you,” said one commenter.
“Woah, she didn’t even engage with Cole,” wrote another. “He’s always so nice and warm. Bad move, J-Lo.”
A third added: “Glad I’m not the only one that didn’t like this attitude 🙄.”
Now, Cole has spoken out about the interaction and defended the ‘Jenny From The Block’ singer.
“Everybody on the internet needs to just calm down. I’m not here to tell anybody how they should feel, but there was only one other person outside of J-Lo that was in that conversation, and that person was me.”
Cole explained that it’s completely up to celebrities whether they want to stop for a Glambot slow-mo, so anyone who does, he appreciates - including J-Lo.
“Red carpets are so insane. All of the celebs are getting ushered, and people are screaming at you. It’s just a really crazy environment,” Cole added.
“These celebrities, they’re at work. They’re there to promote something, to be a guest, a presenter… They’re working.”
He says some people are chatty at work and some are not - and he totally gets it.
I’ve never felt that people are rude to me in that moment. I don’t take it personally.
With J-Lo, Cole believes a few things “added fuel to the fire.” The carpet was closing, she was ready to head inside the venue, she knew what she was going to do and just got straight into position.
“I think it was just unfortunate that the position was facing away from me. I was talking to her, and I knew what she was doing. That moment didn’t feel rude.”
So, with that all cleared up, is this just a classic case of the internet reading too far into things? Either way, if Cole doesn’t feel a way about it, neither should we.
