Chris Pratt is facing backlash over his Mother's Day post after he left out his ex-wife and mother of his first-born child, Anna Faris.
Over the weekend Pratt shared his annual Mother's Day shout-out to his wife Katherine Schwarzenegger, whom he has been married to since 2019 and has two daughters with. He also made special mention of his own mother and gave a shout-out to his mother-in-law, Maria Shriver.
"Happy Mother's Day to all of the mothers out there," Pratt captioned the post.
"Especially grateful today for Katherine. You're a wonderful partner. You've provided me with such a blessed life. Our two daughters are so lucky to have you and you're the best stepmama to Jack."
He continued: "And to my mom, Kathy, you raised us with such love and light and laughter— so grateful for you today and always. And to Maria, the best Mama G, I'm lucky to have you as a mother-in-law. And to all of the other moms in my life, I'm so grateful for all you do- thank you so much. Hope you feel celebrated today."
Many fans took to Twitter to question why there was mention of his first wife and mother of his first-born son Jack.
"Happy belated Mother's Day to Anna Farris as well. Right? She is the reason you had your first Father's Day," another made point of mentioning.
While a third said: "I truly hope Jack spends most of his time with his mother where he's treated like he belongs. Your new family doesn't erase your first family."
However, not all commenters were on the same page. Others felt the post did not intend any negativity towards Anna.
"People need to grow up. He is divorced from Anna. He already mentioned in his tweet congrats to all the moms in his life, he doesn't have to mention her name," wrote one fan in defence of the actor.
Another said: "Oh my God people, he's divorced from Anna, give it a rest."
A third agreed that fans should "leave the man alone".
Yikes, where do you sit on this hot debate? Do you think it was an okay move for Chris to leave Anna out of his Mother's Day tribute, or should he have mentioned her by name?
