Chappell Roan was excited to make the remix of Olivia Rodrigo's song Expectations "a little gay".

On Thursday, the pop stars unveiled a new version of the Vampire hitmaker's track, which was originally included on her third studio album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love.

Referencing her verse for the remix during an interview with Apple Music's Zane Lowe, Chappell - real name Kayleigh Amstutz - explained how she wanted it to be very playful.

"I love making things a little gay," she smiled, adding that the song was the "perfect" way to make her first-ever feature.

In addition, the Pink Pony Club singer - who is open about her sexuality - praised Olivia's original song.

"I was like, 'Wow, it's so cool that she is putting a pretty difficult concept within a pop song,'" the 28-year-old continued. "I was like, 'This is so real.'"

Meanwhile, Olivia recounted how part of the single was inspired by a conversation she once had with Chappell about dating.

"I have a vivid memory of being in the studio with you, Chappell, and we were trying to write the second verse, and I was telling you all of the crazy stuff that boys have done to me," she sighed. "And you're like, 'Oh my God, you need to start dating girls. This is crazy.'"

Chappell also joins Olivia, 23, in the accompanying music video for the remix, which features the duo as different characters going head-to-head in a retro game show.

The clip includes cameos from David Byrne and producer Dan Nigro.
