Busta Rhymes has reached a private settlement with his former personal assistant.
In January 2025, the rapper-actor - real name Trevor Smith Jr. - was arrested and charged with assault in Brooklyn, New York after he allegedly punched his then-employee, Dashiel Gables, in the face.
The outcome of that case has not been made public.
Last August, Gables filed a federal lawsuit against Smith, 53, in which he accused him of physical assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and wage violations, among other claims.
The Break Ya Neck star denied all allegations, and in response, he filed a countersuit against Gables, accusing him of defamation.
But on Thursday, editors at Rolling Stone reported that Smith and Gables - who worked as the Hollywood star's personal assistant for about six months from July 2024 - had settled the cases following mediation.
"The parties are finalizing the settlement documentation and anticipate that it will be completed within 10 days," lawyers wrote in a letter to the judge, according to the outlet.
A formal motion must be submitted by 1 June.
Terms of the settlement have not been disclosed.
Representatives for Smith and Gables have not yet commented on the update.
