Does your dog love going to Bunnings? Now they can rock a limited edition hoodie

Two happy dogs wearing grey "Bunnings Warehouse" hoodies stand on concrete with yellow lines, in front of a building with blue and red walls.

There's a lot to love about a stroll through Bunnings, snag in hand, but it's only improved when you bump into a good dog along with their owner for a DIY mish.

Now imagine that dog wearing a special Bunnings hoodie… and THEN imagine that hoodie is making money for a good cause.

Well, my friends, this weekend that dream will become a reality as Bunnings launches a limited-edition pet hoodie to help raise cash for pets in need.

Priced at just $12, the hoodies are available in sizes small to XXL, and $2 from each sale goes to Pet Refuge, which helps provide safe, temporary shelter to animals affected by family violence.

You can only grab the hoodies in-store, where there will also be free pet-themed kids DIY workshops, and local rescue groups running sausage sizzles and adoption days. Plus, there'll be giveaways and treats for all the four-legged friends in tow.

Pet Refuge is NZ's only shelter dedicated to providing services for pets from families experiencing domestic violence. They look after transport, vet care and reunification - as well as food and shelter - making sure people can leave unsafe situations without having to abandon their fur babies.

They've seen a huge increase in demand this year, having already cared for 900 pets from 500 families since they started 5 years ago.

Founder Julie Champan explains: “More than half of people experiencing family violence delay leaving because they fear for their pet’s safety.

"We hear all the time from people who feel they have no choice but to stay because they have nowhere safe for their pets to go."

No doubt this limited-edition merch will get snapped up quicker than a dropped piece of bacon in a room full of Labradors, so don't sleep on it and support a worthy charity.
