Brooklyn Beckham accused of 'rage bait' over pasta video

Brooklyn Beckham has been accused of "rage bait" after he posted a video of himself boiling pasta in seawater.

The aspiring chef copped a roasting from his followers after he shared a video of himself cooking spaghetti in water straight from the ocean.

Posted to TikTok to promote his Cloud23 line of hot sauces, the video showed Brooklyn, his trousers rolled up around his knees, stepping into the sea.

"Of course, we get some pasta water," he said into the camera before dunking a deep saucepan directly into the water and filling it up.

He was then shown in what looked to be a commercial kitchen, making a simple dish of pasta, tomatoes and parmesan cheese.

The 27-year-old's fans were quick to dive into the video's comments with scathing critiques of his unorthodox methods, with one querying "Is this ragebait?" while another was concerned about hygiene, asking, "Isn't the ocean water dirty?"

"Pasta water with a hint of burnt boat fuel please sir," one comment read, while another, claiming to be Italian, suggested gastric problems were likely to follow: "I'm pretty sure that sea water is the best way to spent all the next day in the bathroom".

Another commenter pointed out that while boiling the water might kill some bacteria, it would have no effect on chemicals and toxins that may be present.

"Gross," they wrote. "Takes sea water from the engine where oil and chemicals leak thru. Boiling seawater doesn't kill chemical pollutants, heavy metals, and all toxins."

Another commenter drew comparisons between Brooklyn's efforts and his father, football great David Beckham's, professional achievements.

"When his dad was the same age he'd won the treble and just signed for Real Madrid," they wrote. "But tomato pasta is a pretty good achievement too".

Brooklyn, who is estranged from his famous parents David and Victoria Beckham, previously declared himself unfazed by the frequent online criticism he receives.

"To be honest, I'm used to the hate," he told Insider in 2023. "It doesn't really bother me."

"Cooking makes me happy. I have more important things to worry about than people saying a little bit of rubbish about me."
