Astroworld victims are calling out Travis Scotts for his 'excessive' purchase of $5.5m Bugatti

The rapper is still under fire after the 2021 Astroworld tragedy.

Travis Scott's purchase of a $5.5million Bugatti caused fury from the victims of the Astroworld Festival tragedy.

It has since been confirmed by a rep for Travis that the purchase of the luxury whip was actually made in 2020, but that hasn't stopped the families from calling out the rapper for his "excessive" purchase.

The family of 9-year-old Ezra Blount, who died as a result of injuries sustained in the Astroworld tragedy, is offended that Scott is flaunting his fortune online, claiming that the rapper didn't spend nearly enough cash ensuring the safety of fans.

Ezra's family's attorney, Bob Hillard, told TMZ that the child would be alive and well now if Scott "would've spent half of what he paid for the Bugatti on simple safety measures at the deadly music festival".

While Hillard noted that Scott should be free to spend his money as he chooses, his most recent purchase is "excessive" and all of Travis' decisions should be scrutinised in consideration of the Astroworld tragedy.

Ezra unfortunately died a few days after being trampled during the event.

His family sued Travis Scott, Cactus Jack Records, Live Nation and promoter ScoreMore Management for negligence before his death.

The claim accuses Astrworld's organisers of failing to immediately stop the performance once a "mass casualty event" was announced.

As reported by Rolling Stone, a court filing in May indicated there have been over 4,900 injury claims connected to the 2021 festival.

"These numbers incude the 10 people who died amoungst the crowd, 732 claims were related to injuries that required extensive medical care, 1,649 for less-extensive treatment, and another 2,540 claims for other injuries which are still under review."

Travis has copped a lot of heat after the tragic incidents that occurred at his concert back in November 2021, with many not allowing the rapper to forget. However, Travis' representative told TMZ: "This latest attempt to exploit Astroworld victims and gaslight the media and the public is a new low."

"The car referenced was purchased way back in 2020, well before the tragic events at Astroworld."

Travis is yet to comment on this latest controversy.
